Best Buy sells refurbished iPhone 3G for $149

Best Buy announced today that it is the first retailer to offer refreshed Apple iPhone 3G phones at store locations nationwide.
Beginning today, 350 Best Buy Mobile stores are selling the refurbished iPhone 3G at $149 for the 8GB model and $249 for the 16GB model, both require a two-year service contract. New iPhone 3Gs currently retail for $199 (8G) and $299 (16G) at Best Buy Mobile. Read more

After a real long wait the iPhone Dev Team has released software to unlock the iPhone 3G. It took much longer for hackers to unlock the iPhone 3G than the original iPhone.
If you absolutely cannot live with T-Mobile or AT&T you can free your iPhone 3G now with yellowsn0w. The currently available version of yellowsn0w is 0.9.5 beta.
You iPhone 3G needs to still be running baseband 02.28.00 to have this software unlock work. Read more

Vaja Announces iPhone Nano Cases

The iPhone Nano has been a topic of much discussion recently with many rumors popping up that Apple may have a new, smaller device up its sleeve for the smartphone crowd. Apple products have been leaked ahead of launch before from case makers, which was the case with some of the new iPods and the iPhone.

XSKN had an iPhone Nano case on its site with what is supposed to be a Nano sitting inside the case. Now another case maker has added the iPhone Nano to its list of cases. iPhone Available for $99 at AT&T

When the rumor mill first wound up with information on the launch of the iPhone 3G at Walmart, the rumor had the retail giant selling a version of the iPhone for only $99. Now that the iPhone is officially in Walmart stores at mere dollars less than anywhere else does, we know that $99 price point was not correct.

Shoppers looking for an iPhone on a budget can get their hands on a $99 iPhone 3G though from a handful of select retailers. The $99 version of the handset is a refurb 8GB model for $99 with a new 2-year contract through the end of the year. Read more

T-Mobile May Send Extended Life Batteries to G1 Owners

According to Boy Genius Report T-Mobile may be planning to do something for G1 owners that are seeing poor battery life from their devices. The battery life is widely held to be abysmal and the rumor has T-Mobile sending out longer run time batteries and new battery doors to every customer who has purchased a G1 to date.

The original battery was an 1150mAh unit and the new rumored extended runtime battery is pegged at 1400mAh adding 20% more capacity. BGR says that if the rumor proves true, handset owners will get a letter from the carrier before a battery tips up in the mail. Read more

Samsung i8510 Offers 3G Support

Samsung’s i8510 has turned up on an FCC filing with one significant addition that will make US customers happy, support for 3G service in America. The handset features dual-band UMTS 850/1900MHz technology for use on AT&T in America and Rodgers in Canada.

Features of the camera include an 8MP camera with dual LED flash, digital image stabilization, facial recognition and more. Wi-Fi is built-in along with GPS, a microSD card slot, and some other nice features. Read more
