The battery life is widely held to be abysmal and the rumor has T-Mobile sending out longer run time batteries and new battery doors to every customer who has purchased a G1 to date.

The original battery was an 1150mAh unit and the new rumored extended runtime battery is pegged at 1400mAh adding 20% more capacity. BGR says that if the rumor proves true, handset owners will get a letter from the carrier before a battery tips up in the mail. Read more
